How to Move a Selection in Adobe Fireworks
Once you have made a selection to a bitmap image or object in Adobe Fireworks CS3, you can easily move that selection. Moving the selection will save you time from having to delete the selection and create a new one. Follow the steps below to find out how you can move a selection in Fireworks in just a few easy steps.
- Start Adobe Fireworks CS3 and open an existing document that contains a bitmap image you would like to select and then move that selection or create a new blank document and insert a bitmap image into it.
-
Step 2
Use the Marquee, Magic Wand or Lasso tools from the Fireworks toolbox to select the bitmap image. You can tell the image is selected because it will be surrounding by a moving black and white border often referred to as “marching ants.”
-
Step 3
Hover your mouse inside of the selection. Your cursor will turn into the move selection cursor. The cursor looks like a pointer attached to a dotted outline of a square. This means that you can move the current selection.
-
Step 4
Click when you see the move selection cursor and drag the selection to its new location. The selection will move along with you without disturbing the contents of the document inside of outside of the selection.
-
Step 5
Release the mouse button when you are happy with the placement of the selection. You can now use the selection to edit or delete the contents that are within the border of the selection.
